I must admit, this old friend is not my prettiest friend. I'm going to call him "She" because She has no gender so could be he or she. This friend of mine has been around us since 1972 but was actually 9 years old when we met She. She never seemed to get older but must of had a rough life before we met She. She was pampered ever since She came to live with us. I can't say She had a bath every week but She was kept well oiled and didn't have to work too hard most of the time She was with us.
She was so reliable!!! She would never let us down when others like She refused to perform. Maybe that's why we had so much affection for She. Sometimes we ignored She but She didn't seem to hold that against us. She was not fickle. It really is hard to find and keep old reliable friends like She, today. She is one of a kind.
Actually, Tom was more in love with She than me. She didn't seem to care because every once in awhile we spent time together. She never put on "airs" even though She was unbelievably friendly and helpful and could have left us out in the cold like others did. She helped us when we would otherwise be stranded, oh what a friend!
She left us this past week. We have a lot of nostalgia about letting She go but we know, more than anything, that She will love, love, love the new home She is going to. We couldn't be happier for She!
She is going to another home that is excited to have She. She is going to get spruced up, very over due. She was even called "cool" by one of her new relatives. I really should show you a picture of She. Here is a picture of She with Tom who was very careful about who could have She. He knew this was the best place for She's future.
Many years ago, we had a huge snow storm, the university was closed, all schools and businesses were closed, no mail was delivered but, of course, the hospital was open. I don't know what I was thinking, but I drove a half mile down our road and needed to be pulled out of the snow. She to the rescue! Then She took me all the way to town to work. I must admit, it was bitter/sweet. Everyone home but She knew it was more important for me to help the sick than stay at home with my children and husband that day. We had another truck, much younger than She but oh, no didn't want to start. Oh, She, we will never forget you.
This is She and She's new family. Yea She you are very cool!
I guess one of the things that actually made you so cool was being able to see the road through your floor.
Good-bye She, can't wait to see your new look!
